Les rôles et fonctions de l’arche dans la bible hébraïque

The current study provides an actual state of knowledge on the functions of the “ark of Yhwh” or “ark of covenant” also known as “ark of testimony” in the Hebrew Bible. The author examines with meticulous care and distinctly its biblical occurrences according to the Priestly and Deuteronomist traditions but also in the particular e.g. relatively ancient context of the Book of Numbers. He first points out the function of the ark as a mobile sanctuary which makes Israel’s victory over its enemies possible, showing thereby Yhwh’s superiority. The mobility of the sanctuary is also shown by the transfer of the ark from Silo to Qiryat Yearim and, after an abidance among the Philistines, to the temple of Jerusalem, where it disappeared during the destruction of the temple by the Babylonians. Then, the author points out the liturgical function of the ark which has been highlighted by scribes of King Josiah’s court. Finally, the author mentions the expiatory function of the ark underlined by the biblical writers from the Priestly tradition.

Spirit Christology: A Critical Evaluation of the Positions of G. W. H. Lampe and R. Haight

Christology is not the discourse ‘of’ Jesus Christ but ‘about’ Jesus Christ. This gives room to different Christological discourses. Some of these Christologies are orthodox others pseudo-Christologies. This reflection is centred on the contemporary Pneuma Christology of Geoffrey W. H. Lampe and Roger Haight which is different from the classical Logos Christology. Is it an ‘orthodox’ Christology? This question will be answered in line with the golden rule for an authentic Christology which is the affirmation the perfect union of the divine and human natures in the person of Jesus Christ without confusion, change, division or separation. Jesus Christ is one person and one hypostasis who is both Son of God and Son of Mary. Spirit Christology remains a disputable Christology which tends to be a pseudo-Christology.

Métamorphoses et destin de la littérature négro-africaine: Iyay V. Kimoni ou l’audace de l’esprit

The current article raises the relevance and the merit of Kimoni Iyay’s work in the study of the Negro-African literature through its variations and ruptures. It analyzes in context his suggestions in order to release the vitality or the audacity of his mind and grasp the reasons of the social tearing and current anomie. The challenge is to oppose to globalization and to the ideology of the dominant society a new political world order. As a matter of fact, the turning point of pragmatism taken by our contemporary literature does stimulate ethical thinking and does claim a political commitment of the citizens from all sides with regard to the vicissitudes and the injustice of globalization in Africa and in the world. The author inquires Kimoni Iyay’s thought in order to determine the place and destiny of Negro-African literature in the concrete practical life of citizens today. The need of such a new critical writing of culture, whose political challenges already seem to be decisive, and the necessity of adopting a new order without losing one’s soul nor call into question one’s own traditions are obvious in order to overcome the malaise that invades the “black Man” and his culture.
